Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at WDW

Have you ever dreamed of experiencing Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World? It’s truly a magical and unforgettable event! We’ve been lucky enough to attend several times, and each visit has given us many special memories that still make us smile.

Of all our trips to Orlando, only a few have not been in the fall, so our family is slightly biased. But we believe visiting Disney World in October is the best time to go, not only because of the low crowds and nearly perfect weather, but mainly for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP). Honestly, that is our biggest reason!

If you’re looking for a PG-rated, family-friendly way to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve and enjoy fall festivities, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disney World is the perfect event for you. Magic Kingdom is transformed every party night into a Halloween wonderland. The wholesome, fun festivities are perfect for families and Disney fans of all ages. These are special hard-ticketed events held on select nights from August 15 to October 31, 2025. The regular park hours are shortened, closing at 4pm. The actual party event runs from 7:00 PM to midnight, letting guests experience the park in a whole new (and slightly eerie) light. We first experienced the magical event known to many as MNSSHP at the Magic Kingdom when Disney held it only in October. Due to the party’s popularity and the fact that it’s an event that almost always sells out, it has expanded into most of September too.

What Makes the MNSSHP Special and Tips for a GREAT NIGHT:

  • Festive Atmosphere: The park is decked out in dazzling Halloween decorations, with special lighting and themed music. This creates a magical, not-too-scary vibe.
  • Exclusive Entertainment: Don’t miss the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show. The Sanderson Sisters cast their spell on Cinderella Castle. Also, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular laser light show with fireworks, hosted by Jack Skellington, is a visual treat. And Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade features Disney characters in their Halloween best, along with elaborate floats and special effects. Arrive early, or you could miss the eerie Headless Horseman clip-clopping down the parade route, carrying his pumpkin head.
  • Trick-or-Treating: Guests of all ages can collect candy at various treat distribution areas throughout the park. Disney provides teeny-tiny reusable trick-or-treat bags, so if you love treats, bring a bigger bag. In addition, there are even allergy-friendly options at special stations, ensuring all can join the treat-gathering fun.
  • Costumes for All: Everyone can and should dress up! Individuals, families, and groups of friends attend in creative, Disney-inspired costumes. But don’t go overboard, as there are rules against looking too much like a Disney character. And don’t forget it is very warm at night, so think about comfort too. Our family opted for Hawaiian shirts one year, going as tourists. Another year, my sons dressed in lightweight scrub shirts with ID badges like characters from the TV show Scrubs. Coordinating family costumes will make your Disney PhotoPass photos extra special, especially with the exclusive ghostly effects available only at the party.
  • Shorter Waits for Popular Rides: With limited ticket sales, the park feels less crowded. So, you’ll enjoy shorter waits for rides and attractions. Nana T. Tip: The rides don’t stop during the parades. This is an opportune time to visit Space Mountain in total darkness with a bit shorter wait.
  • Encounters with Rare Characters—2025’s lineup includes Pain & Panic from “Hercules” and Vanellope from “Wreck-It Ralph.” Keep in mind, the lines to see characters are long, so make sure to line up early for your favorites.
