Whether you’re starting your own collection or curious about event exclusives, these stories reveal what we’ve discovered over the past two decades.

Why Are Some Disney Pins Considered Rare?
Disney pins are often considered rare because they had limited production or restricted distribution. Some pins, such as the Millennium Village Cast Member exclusives, were never sold to the public. Disney distributed these pins only to Cast Members who represented their home countries. Artist-signed pins are rare because each one must be signed by hand, which limits how many get signed. Most WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) pins remain with Disney’s Imagineering teams rather than reaching collectors. Event pins, like Where Dreams HapPin, required collectors to spend a certain amount to receive them.

Millennium Village Country Flag Pin

| Release Date: | October 1, 1999 – 2000 |
| Edition Size: | Estimated to be 25-150 |
| Event: | Millennium Celebration at EPCOT |
| PinPics # | Samoa – 8723 |
| Collecting Notes: | These pins were created exclusively for cast members at the Millennium Village Pavilion, not for sale to the public. Cast members wore pins from their home countries, and with limited staff-only production, they’re now rare collectibles. |
Why This Pin Matters to Us
During the Millennium Village celebration at EPCOT, Cast Members signed our kids’ autograph books and often added personal notes in their native languages. Along with the crafts and cultural activities, those moments became memories we still cherish. We’ve held onto those autograph books ever since, and these pins now remind us of the Cast Members and the pieces of their cultures they shared with our family.
Where Can Collectors Find Millennium Village Flag Pins?
These cast exclusive pins occasionally surface on eBay and in specialty trading groups. Flags from larger nations appear more often than island nations like Samoa. Check for consistent enamel quality and proper Disney backstamps when evaluating authenticity.
The Millennium Celebration ran from October 1, 1999, through January 1, 2001, transforming EPCOT into a showcase of global cultures and innovation.
Figment w/Chip and Dale

| Release Date: | 2007 |
| Edition Size: | Limited Edition: 500 |
| Event: | Where Dreams HapPin – Special Promotion |
| PinPics # | 55816 |
| Collecting Notes: | The pin could only be obtained by spending $300 at a 2007 EPCOT pin event. The pin honors EPCOT history, featuring Figment with Chip and Dale as Dreamfinder, a nod to the retired Journey Into Imagination ride. |
Why We Stretched Our Budget
This pin is a favorite in our collection because it combines our favorite Disney characters. I love Chip and Dale, and my husband collects Figment. The only challenge is deciding on whose board we will display it! Like many collectors, we may have stretched the budget a little, but its crossover appeal made it worth every penny.
We’ve collected several character crossover pins over the years, and they’re often our favorites because they bridge both our collections. The Dreamfinder costumes also connect us to the original Journey Into Imagination ride—an EPCOT attraction we experienced before it closed.
Boo to You! – Halloween Party

| Release Date: | 2007 |
| Edition Size: | Limited Edition: 300 |
| Event: | Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party |
| PinPics # | 56727 |
| Collecting Notes: | The “Boo to You!” completer pin was part of a Limited Edition framed set for the 2007 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The set included nine regular pins plus this exclusive completer pin, with only 300 sets produced. |
Our Halloween Party Tradition
This “Boo to You!” pin is a standout in our collection, perfectly capturing the spirit of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Modeled after the iconic parade banners that line Magic Kingdom during the event, the design even glows in the dark, echoing how the park transforms after sunset.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been a favorite for us ever since we first attended in the early 2000s. Every time we see this pin, it brings back the festive decorations, the energy in the air, and the beauty of the parade, along with the fun and laughter our family has shared over the years.
How We Found This One
We found this completer pin while buying a Halloween pin lot on eBay. The seller had bundled several party-related pins together, and this one was included.
What Are Disney Completer Pins?
Completer pins finish a themed set, often with higher detail or special features. They’re typically the last piece released in a series.
Expedition Pins – Artist Signed

| Release Date: | 2008 |
| Edition Size: | Limited Edition: 500 |
| Event: | Expedition Everest Attraction Celebration |
| PinPics # | 60313 |
| Collecting Notes: | This Expedition Everest pin is signed by Disney Design Group artist Tyler Dumas and features an attraction tie-in, making it a unique piece within limited-release pins. |
During a trip to Animal Kingdom, my kids talked their dad into riding Expedition Everest, even though big coasters aren’t really his thing. My youngest sat next to him, grinning the entire ride, while his dad clung on for dear life. Seeing my son’s excitement reminded me that some of the best Disney memories happen when you let the kids take the lead.
What Makes Artist-Signed Disney Pins Special?
Artist signatures add a personal touch to Disney pins. Our photo clearly shows Tyler Dumas’s signature on the back of this pin. To verify authenticity, check that signatures match the artist’s known style and placement. Compare against reference photos from other verified pins by the same artist.
Goofy’s Sky School

| Release Date: | 2011 |
| Edition Size: | Limited Edition: 250 |
| Event: | Disneyland opening of Goofy’s Sky School ride |
| PinPics # | 94810 |
| Collecting Notes: | Available only to Imagineers and select cast members, this pin’s limited release and restricted distribution make it one of the rarest Disney pins in our collection. |
Why Goofy Matters to Our Family
Goofy has always been a family favorite character, and this pin’s design instantly brings back memories of the Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom, one of the first roller coasters our youngest (who was terrified of heights) braved at Disney World. This pin reminds us of the ride cars, and I can still picture his nervous excitement turning into pure joy. It may have been short and a little bumpy, but it gave us big laughs and a memory we’ll never forget, much like Goofy’s playful spirit.
What We Know About WDI Pins
Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) pins are released only to Imagineers and select Cast Members, making them especially rare. Verifying authenticity starts with the backstamp, which should be clear and well-defined. This pin’s backstamp reads, “Walt Disney Imagineering – Imagineer Exclusive, Disney California Adventure 2011 Grand Opening Series.”
What These Pins Mean to Our Collection
As we reflect on these rare finds, we’ve also considered how our collection has evolved and expanded over the years. Some pieces will remain with us, while others may soon find new homes. If one of these caught your eye, it might just appear on our eBay page because every pin has a story, and sometimes that story continues with another collector.
Looking back on 25 years of collecting, it’s clear how our approach has changed. At first, we picked up anything that caught our eye in the parks. Over time, we began focusing on specific characters and attractions. These five pins reflect different stages of that journey, from spontaneous trades to thoughtful additions tied to our family memories.
But our rare pin story doesn’t end here.
